Cynthia Steel ('98), was a three-time All-American and All-Region selection. She was Briar Cliff's first two-time first-team All-American in women's basketball. She was a back-to-back Midwest Region Player of the Year and finished her career second on the school's all-time scoring chart with 2,361 points. She still owns the school single-game scoring record of 48 points vs. Northwestern (MN) during the 1996-97 season. She also finished her career with 375 steals, 202 three-pointers and 384 assists. She helped the Chargers to three-straight national tournaments. Following her graduation in 1998, Steel spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Briar Cliff.
