Alex Funes is a 1993 graduate and finished his career with 1,570 points. He also finished with 363 career assists, 222 career steals and 62 career blocks. At the time of graduation, Funes held the school record for most games played in a career with 126. He was a two-time all-conference selection, earning first team honors as a senior. Funes was named the team's top defensive player as a freshman and was an integral part of teams that produced the second-best four-year stretch in school history, appearing in four national tournaments.
Following his graduation, Funes played professionally in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guetemala and Honduras until 2000 and he was also a member of El Salvador's national team.
