Hall of Fame
Dr. Jay Gunnels served as the Athletic Director at Briar Cliff from 1987-1991 and 1998-2001. Was the chairperson of the Briar Cliff Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department for more than 20 years beginning in 1984. Dr. Gunnels created and submitted proposals for the implementation of men's soccer, women's soccer, cross country, track and football programs.
Dr. Gunnels also submitted the proposal for the acceptance into the Great Plains Athletic Conference. He won the Distinguished Service Award from the Iowa Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
