Ray Mitchell served on the college's Board of Trustees from 1985 to 1993 and served as its vice-president for five of those years. In 1995, Mitchell was the recipient of the Presidential Leadership Award, presented annually to recognize service by an individual to the college. While a member of the board of trustees, Mitchell was instrumental in the accomplishment of several major projects, including Baxter-DiGiovanni and a $5 million campaign for endowment and the library. His support of athletics has benefited Bishop Mueller Field, Faber Field and the Newman Flanagan Center, as well as athletic publications and promotional materials.
