Marian Pesky is the founder of women's sports at Briar Cliff, beginning the women's volleyball program in 1968 and serving as the first coach for women's basketball, volleyball, softball and tennis. Pesky coached volleyball for 25 years and compiled a record of 634-283. She coached softball for nine seasons, basketball for six and softball for two.
Pesky was integral in the Champions of Character initiative on the Briar Cliff campus and was the pioneer of the annual Champions of Character Banquet, honoring student-athletes that went above and beyond outside the realm of their sport.
