Art Silva is a longtime supporter of Charger Athletics. He helped establish the school's first booster club (CBA) in 1986 and served as co-chairperson of the CBA for several years. Silva is a trustee emeritus after serving on the Board of Trustees from 1989-1997. He was appointed to a Blue Ribbon Commission by then-Briar Cliff President Sister Margaret Wick to examine Title IX at Briar Cliff. Throughout the years, Silva has been active in the Siouxland community as both a volunteer and through his service on numerous boards of directors.He was named the 1999 Sioux City NAACP Business Person of the Year an d the 2000 Iowa Coalition for Families and Children Volunteer of the Year.
