Ernesto "Tito" Malcolm played basketball for the Chargers from 1975-79. The Canal Zone, Panama native finished his career ranked 12th on the Chargers' career scoring list with 1,427 points. He also grabbed 472 career rebounds. Malcolm helped the Chargers to four-straight NAIA National Tournaments, including a quarterfinal finish in 1979. During his four years, the Chargers accumulated a record of 91-24, including a school record mark of 28-3 his senior year. As a senior, Malcolm averaged 17.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg. He also shot 52 percent from the field and 80 percent from the charity stripe. In three national tournament games in 1979, Malcolm tallied 61 points and 29 rebounds including 29 points and 16 rebounds in an 89-84 quarterfinal loss to eventual champion Drury. During his years at Briar Cliff, Malcolm played alongside the likes of Rolando Frazer, Eddie Warren and Mario Butler to name a few. Head Coach Ray Nacke's 1978-79 squad featured seven Panamanians, of which four were members of the Panamanian National Team. Malcolm earned All-District honors and helped the Chargers to consecutive NAIA District 15 Championships.
