The Briar Cliff women's basketball team was tabbed 4
th in the GPAC Preseason Poll early Thursday morning. The Chargers posted an impressive 30-6 record (13-1 GPAC) that concluded with a trip to the NAIA National Tournament.
Dordt topped the poll with 120 points and 10 first-place votes, followed by Dakota Wesleyan with 111 points and one first-place nod. Hastings claimed the third spot with 99 points and one first-place vote.
Mallie McNair returns for the Chargers after a standout junior campaign. The senior guard earned NAIA All-Tournament team, First Team All-American, and First Team All-GPAC honors last season. McNair led the team in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting 44.8% from the field and 42.6% from the three. McNair scored in double figures in all but four contests last season.
Taylor Sodeman also returns for the Chargers. Sodeman averaged 5.8 points per game while also adding 2.8 rebounds per game and shooting 50.3 % from the field.
Junior
Kenna Mongan also returns for the cliff, adding 8.1 points per game and shooting 40% from the field, while also adding 1.6 assists per game.
The Chargers open their season on October 24 at the Newman Flanagan Center, hosting Tabor College in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. GPAC play begins on November 15, as the Chargers head to Omaha, NE, to take on the Flames of College of Saint Mary's. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
