The Briar Cliff women's basketball team improved to 3-0 Sunday afternoon with a 79-67 victory over Grand View University inside the Newman Flanagan Center.

Abby Lee led the Chargers with a game-high 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including four 3-pointers, while adding nine rebounds. Brooklyn Heineman followed with 17 points, three rebounds, and five steals, and Kenna Mongan chipped in 14 points and six boards.

Briar Cliff jumped out to a 24-15 first-quarter lead and carried a 39-27 advantage into halftime. Grand View cut the margin to six in the third, but the Chargers sealed the game with a 22-point fourth quarter.

The Cliff shot 46.7% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc while holding the Vikings to 44.1%. The Chargers also controlled the boards 38-30 and dominated inside the paint with 38 points.

Grand View's Anna Gossling led the Vikings with 22 points, while Taryn Ottemann added seven.

The Chargers return to action Friday, November 7, in Atchison, Kansas, to take on Benedictine. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
