The Charger track and field team opened their outdoor season this weekend, competing in the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Nebraska. The Cliff competed against several NCAA Division one and Division two athletes alongside NAIA Athletes.
Blake Hogancamp finished ninth in the men's shot put with a best mark of 14.47 meters. Hogancamp was the lone performer in the GPAC to make the finals and one of three NAIA athletes to make the finals against NCAA competition.
Colin Rhynalds finished ninth in the 110-meter hurdles and set a new personal record with a mark of 16.31. He also set a new personal record in the 200-meter with a mark of 24.85.
On the women's side,
Devondra Sands finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a mark of 15.05. Sands was the fastest NAIA competitor in the event. She also set a personal best in the 200-meter with a time of 26.93.
The Charger track and field team will return to action next Friday and Saturday, as they compete in the USD Early Bird Meet in Vermillion, South Dakota.
