The Charger baseball defeated the Midland Warriors 4-2 in the opening round in the GPAC Tournament Wednesday in Seward, Nebraska.
Nick Hays earned the win on the mound, tossing eight innings and allowing just one earned run while recording four strikeouts.
Rance Bryant recorded the save and recorded one strikeout.
The Warriors took a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs, Bryant recorded a single followed by a single from
Jake Chronic. An error by the Warriors moved runners to second and third.
Diego Trujillo drew a walk to load up the bases.
Nico Sall put the Chargers up front, a grand slam gave BCU a two-run lead heading into the seventh.
Raenan Padilla and
Connor Neubeck each recorded a hit.
The Chargers will return to action tomorrow, as they take on the winner of the Concordia/Dakota Wesleyan contest in Seward Nebraska at 12 p.m.
