The Briar Cliff men's basketball team was selected 6
th in the GPAC Preseason Poll early Thursday morning. The Chargers posted a 14-15 record (9-11 GPAC) last season.
Northwestern topped the poll with 100 points and 10 first-place votes, followed by Morningside with 86 points. Concordia and Dordt tied for the third spot with 78 points, with Dordt receiving one first-place vote.
Blake Sindelar returns for the Chargers after an impressive junior season, in which he earned Second-Team All-GPAC honors. Sindelar averaged 13.9 points per game while shooting 47% from the field and 34% from the three. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds per game last season. Sindelar ranked second on the team in scoring.
Also returning for the Cliff is sophomore
Jaxson Wingert. Wingert averaged 12 points per game and shot an efficient 58.7% from the field, earning All-GPAC honorable mention in his debut season.
Senior
Wil Lugar also returns after appearing in all but two games last season. Lugar averaged 7.3 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds, while shooting 53.5% from the field. He scored a career high of 32 points last season against Hastings.
The Chargers open their season on October 24, hosting Mount Mercy in the Newman Flanagan Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. GPAC play begins November 19 with the Chargers heading to Forest City, IA, to take on Waldorf. Tip-off is set for 7:45 p.m.
