The NAIA announced its 2019-20 Daktronics Scholar-Athletes and Scholar-Teams list Tuesday with over 2,000 teams receiving the honor. Briar Cliff had 13 teams and 45 athletes named to the lists.
The 13 Briar Cliff teams included: baseball, men's golf, men's basketball, men's volleyball, men's track & field, women's basketball, women's cross country, competitive dance, women's golf, softball, women's soccer, women's track & field, and women's volleyball.
For a team to be considered for the NAIA Scholar-Team award, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
The Charger women's golf team held the highest GPA on campus at 3.68 and the men's team with the highest GPA was basketball with a GPA of 3.52. Women's basketball led the way for BC with nine student-athletes receiving Scholar-Athlete honors.
A student-athlete must maintain a GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved a junior academic status in order to be recognized as a NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Below is the list of all the Briar Cliff athletes honored by the NAIA for their academic success.
