Competed at five meets as a junior...set the school record in the indoor heptathlon with a score of 4005 at the GPAC Championships for a seventh place finish.

High School
Harrel was a five-time letter winner for the Skyhawks of Skutt Catholic High School with four in track and one in basketball. As a junior, Harrel finished sixth at the state meet, second at districts and was ranked second in the River City Conference in the triple jump. His personal bests were 13.33 meters in the triple jump and 6.41 meters in the long jump. Harrel was named to the Lincoln Journal Star Academic All-State team for track as a senior and was named Academic All-Conference in basketball both of his last two years of high school.

Ryan is the son of Tim and Amber Harrel and is majoring in secondary education.
