The Charger cross-country team opened their season Friday evening, competing at the Augustana Twilight at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
In the men's 5K, freshman Trevyn Ruch led the Chargers with a time of 17:26.6. Brad Baer followed with a mark of 17:37.2, while Collin Vines finished in 17:46.9. Sebastian Lopez crossed the finish line in 17:52.7, followed by Demetry Hoseth with a time of 18:29.5 and Nathan MacClure with a mark of 19:58.0.
In the women's 5K, Maria Gutiérrez led Briar Cliff with a time of 22:16.2. Ava Grimm followed with a mark of 23:11.0.
The Chargers will return to action Saturday, September 12 at the Sunflower Open in Sioux Center, IA.
