The Briar Cliff men's soccer team fell 4-0 to the Concordia University Nebraska Bulldogs Saturday afternoon at Faber Field.
Concordia struck twice in the opening nine minutes, taking a 2-0 lead early in the match. Joe McCarroll opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Niko Nareike added another goal less than two minutes later.
The Chargers battled to create opportunities throughout the match, finishing with 14 shots and five on goal
.Alejandro Illan led Briar Cliff with three shots, including two on target, while
David Sauter added four shots and
Tobias Noack recorded two.
Briar Cliff continued to pressure in the second half, putting several shots on Concordia goalkeeper Florian Quast, who finished with five saves. Sauter and Illan each had second-half shots saved before the Bulldogs added two late goals in the 85th and 87th minutes to seal the victory.
Lucas Attanasio made one save over 84:12 in goal, while
Tayler Pinx recorded two saves during the final minutes.
The Chargers return to action on Wednesday, October 7, hosting the Dordt Defenders. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
