The Charger baseball team punched their ticket to the GPAC Championships, winning their pod and defeating Concordia in the final game.

Game one – L, 5-6

Raenan Padilla drew a walk with the bases loaded in the top of the second to give the Chargers the early lead.

The Bulldogs took control of the contest the next half inning, scoring five runs to take the lead.

An error by the Bulldogs in the top of the fourth followed by a single from
Jake Chronic put runners at first and second with no outs. Cam Reimer was struck by a pitch and the bases were loaded.

Damon Schmid put the ball in play and drove in
Rance Bryant. A RBI double from
Diego Trujillo put the Cliff within two runs. A two-run single from
Cade Marquardt tied the game at 5-5.

The Bulldogs tacked on another run in the next half inning. The Bulldogs kept the Chargers off the base paths in the final innings to force the final game of the pod.

Game two – W, 16-3
Â
Brock Saya earned the win on the mound for the Chargers, throwing six innings and allowed just three runs off four hits while recording five strikeouts.
Brock Wallace closed the contest out in the seventh and recorded one strikeout.

Heading into the top of the sixth, the Chargers and Bulldogs were deadlocked at 2-2. BCU's offense exploded, scoring 14 runs in the inning. The Chargers lead 12-2 after a balk was called.

Nico Sall capped off the scoring with a two-run blast to give BCU a 16-2 lead.

Bryant paved the way in the contest, going two-for-four at the plate with four RBIs. Trujillo led the team in hits with four and recorded three RBIs.

The Chargers will return to Bishop Mueller Complex to take on the Mount Marty Lancers at 3 p.m. on Monday.
