The Charger baseball team stumbled against the Morningside Mustangs Saturday, falling 3-6 in game one and 3-13 in game two.

Game one – L, 3-6
Â
The Mustangs quickly built a 5-0 lead in the first three innings of the contest. In the top of the fourth with one out,
Nico Sall put the Chargers on the board following his solo home run over the left field wall.

Morningside in the bottom of the fifth used the long ball to increase their lead to 6-1. In the next inning, Sall recorded his second home run of the day, belting one over the center field wall.
Cam Riemer followed up with a two out solo shot to cut the lead to three.

Sall and Riemer went two-for-three at the plate in the contest.
Diego Trujillo and
Justin Remar each recorded a hit in the contest.

Game two – L, 3-13
Â
Trujillo put the Chargers on the board in the first at-bat, recording a solo home run to give BCU the early lead. The Mustangs responded with four runs in the next half inning to take a 4-1 lead.

In the top of the third, Trujillo blasted his second home run of the contest over the right center field wall to cut the Mustang lead to two.

The Mustangs would tack on five runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-2 lead. In the top of the seventh, the Chargers loaded the bases as
Damon Schmid reached via error by the Mustangs.
Justin Remar put the ball in play to drive in
Raenan Padilla. The Mustangs in the bottom of the inning carded four runs to take a 13-3 lead.

The Chargers slide to 8-11 (1-3 GPAC), and will head to Orange City, Iowa next Friday to take on the Red Raiders of Northwestern. Game one is slated for 4 p.m. with game two to follow shortly after.
