The Charger football team placed five athletes on the All-GPAC list this fall in a release Wednesday morning. Offensive tackle Zak Rachow earned first-team honors, while defensive back Dayton Harrell was named to the second team. Wide receiver Kymani Fleurme, linebacker Max Rascon Jr., and tight end Steven Whiting earned honorable mention honors.
Rachow, a junior from Otay Ranch, California, started all 11 games for the Chargers at left tackle. He anchored an offensive line that averaged 304.9 yards of offense per contest and 215 yards passing per game.
Harrell, a sophomore from Sioux City, Iowa, appeared in all 11 games for the Chargers and finished second on the team in tackles with 65 and recorded a team-high 38 solo tackles. Harrell led the team with three interceptions and recorded eight pass breakups.
Fleurme, a junior from Pembroke Pines, Florida, made nine starts for the Chargers and led the team in receiving yards with 599 on 45 catches. He hauled in two touchdown passes with a long reception of 45 yards. His best performance came against Morningside, where he hauled in 11 catches for 143 yards. Fleurme went over 100 yards receiving in two contests this season.
Rascon Jr., a senior from Stockton, California, posted a team-high 82 tackles to go with five tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, six quarterback hurries, and one interception while starting all 11 games this past season. He recorded three games with double-digit tackles. Against the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers, he recorded 11 tackles, a half sack, two tackles for loss, and one pass breakup.
Whiting, a senior from Lodi, California, led the Chargers in receiving touchdowns with four and in receptions with 49 this past fall. He finished second in receiving yards with 510. Whiting started all 11 contests and recorded a reception in every contest. His best performance came against the Hastings Broncos, where he finished with nine catches for 114 yards and one touchdown.
The Chargers finished the season 6–5 (5–5 GPAC) and secured their second winning season in program history.
