CHARGERS PICK UP A TRIFECTA

DES MOINES, Iowa – Senior Veronica Pitzl, senior Isabel Sayler and freshman Devonda Sands had first place performances as the Briar Cliff University women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Viking Classic. The Chargers had 10 Top 10 finishes.

Pitzl won the javelin with a toss of 103 feet.

Sayler finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 10.50 inches. That is the second longest jump in school history.

Sands ran 15.29 to take the 100-meter hurdles.

In the javelin, junior Morgan Jones was third with a toss of 100 feet, eight inches.

Additional Top 10 performances came from freshman Rylee Antonino (400 dash, 800), freshman Sophie Ruden (200, 400 hurdles), sophomore Maria Russell (1500) and senior Lexi Weber (1500).

Briar Cliff hits the road, Friday-Saturday, May 3-4 to compete at the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship. The meet is in Madison, S.D.
