Box Score The Charger softball team went 2-0 Friday afternoon, sweeping the Flames of College of Saint Mary.
Game 1 – W, 5-4
After two scoreless innings to start the contest, the Cliff struck first in the top of the third after Karis Gifford's RBI-double to deep left field drove in Montie Richter.
 
Kieya Belmont the next inning hit a sacrifice fly to right field to drive in Rylee Cain to put the Chargers up 2-0.
 
A two-run blast in the top of the fifth from Kylie Wilhelms to left center to put the Chargers up 4-0. 
In the top of the sixth, Richter recorded a RBI-single to score Belmont to put the Chargers up 5-3.
 
Gifford and Richter both recorded two hits and one RBI while scoring a run. Grace Batcheller went 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out one. Georgia Krohn in relief earned the save after tossing 2.1 innings and recording two strikeouts.
 
Game 2 – W, 11-6
The Cliff in the top of the second scored six runs in the inning, capped off by a RBI-double from Wilhelms to put the Cliff up 6-1.
 
In the top of the fourth, the Cliff bats caught fire after a solo-blast from Kylee Lukes sparked a three-run scoring barrage in the top of the fourth.
 
Jessica James went three-for-four with three RBIs in the contest. Cain went a perfect three-for-three with three RBIs.
 
Krohn earned the complete game win, recording four strikeouts in the contest.
 
The Chargers improved to 17-14 (5-5 GPAC) and will return to action tomorrow as they face cross-town rival Morningside. Game one is slated for 1 p.m.
