The Charger women's basketball team blew past the Flames of College of Saint Mary 93-51 in Omaha, Nebraska Saturday afternoon. The Chargers shot 51% from the field and 49% from deep in the contest.
Mallie McNair led the way with 19 points and shot 50% from three.
The Charger defense forced 20 turnovers and out-rebounded the Flames 40-30 in the game. Briar Cliff held College of Saint Mary to 33% shooting from the field.
Konnor Sudmann got Briar Cliff on the board first after making two free throws. With 1:01 remaining in the first, McNair knocked down a three to spark a 8-0 run to give BCU a 24-16 lead.
Late in the second quarter, a steal from
Grace Flanagan led to a three ball on the other end from
Kenna Mongan to give BCU a 39-28 lead. Two jumpers from
Rachel Langel and a triple from Flanagan increased the Charger lead to 18. The second half was all Chargers, as they outscored the Flames 47-23.
Rachel Langel had another efficient game shooting, scoring 15 points on 70% from the field and six rebounds.
Kennedy Benne added 15 points and went seven-for-11 from the field. Flanagan chipped in 12 points and buried four three pointers.
Cadence Davis added eight points and went perfect from the field.
The Chargers have now won two straight and improve to 15-7 (10-6 GPAC) overall. The Chargers will return to action next Wednesday, as the travel to Mitchell, South Dakota to take on the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
