Briar Cliff Competes At GPAC Championship

ASHLAND, Neb. – The Briar Cliff University men's and women's cross country teams ran at the GPAC Championship. The men ran 8000-meters while the women ran 6000-meters.

For the men, it was a shootout as Dordt edged Doane, 41-45 for the team title. Rounding out the top five was Concordia (Neb.) (3^rd – 67 points), Mount Marty (4^th – 132 points) and Northwestern (Iowa) (5^th – 140 points).

The Chargers scored 283 points to place ninth.

For Briar Cliff, the top runner was freshman James Nagle who ran 29:21.93 to place 43rd. Rounding out the squad was freshman Demetry Hoseth (31:30.87 – 54th), freshman Nathan MacClure (32:23.16 – 58th), senior Daron Jackson Jr. (31:29.42 – 60th) and sophomore Connor Antonino (36:13.72 – 68th).

For the women, Dordt placed six among the top 10 to score 18 points and win by 59 points over St. Mary (Neb.). Rounding out the top five was Doane (3^rd – 88 points), Concordia (Neb.) (4^th – 100 points) and Morningside (5^th – 141 points).

The Chargers scored 310 points to finish 10th.

For Briar Cliff, the top runner was junior Maria Russell who ran 28:17.39 to place 59th. Rounding out the squad was junior Avery Beller (28:23.33 – 60th), freshman Ashley Quimiro-Rosales (28:26.30 – 61st), freshman Aliyah Basham (29:48.53 – 64th) and sophomore Sophie Ruden (30:05.80 – 66th)

Briar Cliff has concluded the 2024 season.
