Briar Cliff Competes At Sunflower Opener

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – The Briar Cliff University men's and women's cross country teams ran at the Sunflower Opener. The men ran 8000-meters while the women ran 5000-meters.

For the men, Dordt had five of the top seven runners to score 22 points, winning by 48 points over Dakota State. Rounding out the top five was Sioux Falls (3^rd – 78 points), Mount Marty (4^th – 94 points) and Morningside (5^th – 119 points).

For Briar Cliff, the top runner was freshman James Nagle who ran 29:06.73 to place 52^nd. Rounding out the squad was freshman Nathan MacClure (31:27.64 – 77th), senior Daron Jackson Jr. (32:56.58 – 81^st) and sophomore Connor Antonino (34:59.01 – 89th).

For the women, Dordt took the top five spots to score 15 points to finish 47 points ahead of Dakota State. Rounding out the top five was St. Mary's (Neb.) (3^rd – 81 points), Morningside (4^th – 106 points) and Sioux Falls (5^th – 115 points).

For Briar Cliff, the top runner was junior Maria Russell who ran 23:25.94 to place 75th. Rounding out the squad was freshman Ashley Quimiro-Rosales who ran 23:58.70 to finish 82nd.

Briar Cliff is off until Saturday, Oct. 5 when they run at the Briar Cliff Invite. The meet in is North Sioux City, Iowa.
