STILWILL SCORES 1,000 CAREER POINT, CHARGERS WIN THREE STRAIGHT

The Chargers have now won three straight, defeating the visiting Midland Warriors 70-59 Wednesday evening. Five Chargers scored in double-figures in the contest, paced by Quinn Vesey and Wil Lugar who both scored 16 points.

"Really happy with our guys finding a way to get a win tonight," said Head Coach Mark Svagera. "I thought Midland came out punched us in the face early on, but pretty happy with how we responded."

Matthew Stilwill scored 11 points and became the latest Charger to score 1,000 career points. "On top of the win, Matt went over the 1,000-point mark for his career tonight," said Svagera. "Super proud and happy for Matt, he has worked so hard to become the player he is and great achievement for him tonight."

Freshman Colby Collison provided a spark off the bench for the Cliff, as he knocked down two threes early to give Briar Cliff a 15-13 lead after trailing for most of the first half. Collison knocked down his third three of the contest with 12:15 remaining to give BCU a five point lead. After trading baskets, Lugar knocked down a three with 32 seconds left to give Briar Cliff a 33-27 lead. Jake Orr of the Warriors scored a layup to cut BCU's lead 33-29 heading into halftime.

Jamison Helmers got fire in the second half, scoring nine points in the opening minutes. With 9:48 remaining in the contest, the Chargers took a 11-point lead following a pair of free throws from Stilwill. Stilwill later knocked down a three to score his 1,000-career point at the 9:13 mark.

Helmers and Collison both finished with 11 points in the contest. The Chargers knocked down ten threes in the contest and were able to run the Warriors off the three-point line, holding them to 28% from downtown.

"I thought Colby Collison was huge off the bench, knocking in some early shots coming in." said Svagera.

The Chargers improve to 13-9 (7-7 GPAC) and will return to action next Wednesday, as the travel to Mitchell, South Dakota to take on the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m.
