LUGAR NAMED GPAC CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR, FOUR CHARGERS EARN ALL-GPAC HONORS

Four members of the Briar Cliff University men's basketball team earned postseason recognition from the Great Plains Athletic Conference in a release Wednesday morning.

Senior Wil Lugar headlined the honors as the GPAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year and an All-GPAC Honorable Mention selection. Blake Sindelar earned First-Team All-GPAC recognition, while Jaxson Wingert was named to the Second Team. Colby Collison rounded out the list with Honorable Mention honors.

Lugar, a senior from Cherokee, Iowa, anchored the Charger defense throughout the season. He ranked fifth in the conference with 23 total blocks and averaged 5.5 rebounds per contest. Offensively, Lugar contributed 7.7 points per game while shooting 48.3% from the floor and dishing out 3.4 assists per game. He also totaled 35 steals on the year. In a match up against Waldorf, Lugar recorded three blocks, three steals and five defensive rebounds. He poured in a season-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds against Dakota Wesleyan.

Sindelar, a senior from Howells, Nebraska, finished as one of the league's most dynamic scorers. He ranked fourth in the GPAC in scoring at 19.9 points per game and fifth in rebounding at 6.5 per contest. Sindelar shot 49.7% from the field, 30% from three-point range and 71% from the free-throw line. He exploded for a season-high 35 points against Northwestern, shooting 12-of-19 from the floor and 5-of-10 from beyond the arc.

Wingert, a sophomore from Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, averaged 17.4 points per game while shooting an efficient 50.8% from the field and 34.6% from three. He converted 75.8% of his free throws on the season. Wingert scored a season-high 30 points against Mount Mercy, going 10-of-18 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the line while pulling down eight rebounds.

Collison, a junior from Bondurant, Iowa, averaged nine points per game and shot 50.9% from the field and an impressive 46.2% from three-point range. He knocked down 55 three-pointers during the season. Collison's top performance came in an 18-point outing in which he went 5-of-6 from beyond the arc.
