Hope Wagner of the Briar Cliff women's track and field team made her second career appearance at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday morning. The NAIA Championships were hosted by Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.
Â
Wagner competed in the shot-put event where she did not record a throw due to three consecutive faults.
Â
A season ago, Wagner placed 12th in the NAIA with a throw of 12.80m (41.99ft).
Â
Wagner qualified for Nationals in the shot put at the SDSU DII Invite in January. Wagner posted a throw of 13.90m (45.60ft), hitting the NAIA 'A' Standard and solidifying her place in Brookings.
Wagner found a massive throw of 14.19m (45.60ft) at the Mount Marty Last Chance, granting her the top ranking in the GPAC and second in the NAIA at the time.
Wagner carded a sixth-place finish at the GPAC Championships where she earned her second straight all-GPAC honors and hit the NAIA 'B' Standard with a mark of 13.33m (43.73ft).
Â
Wagner will now prep for the outdoor season scheduled to start on March 24-25 in Wayne, Nebraska at the Wildcat Classic.
