The Briar Cliff track and field teams had set new program record and personal bests at the Concordia Twilight Invite Friday in Seward, Nebraska.

"It was an unbelievable meet to end the season," said head coach
Scott Barnes. "We had an amazing day with almost everyone getting personal bests! We will take this momentum into nationals where we hope to bring home Mulu Ripley certificates and top-25 team finishes."

The Charger 4x100 team of
Dominic Archer,
Ben Jefferies,
Tulsa Janish and
Ryan Kotey set a new program record with a time of 41.02 seconds. They placed third in the event and currently hold the ninth fastest time in the NAIA.Â

After running their fifth fastest time in the 100-meter prelims, Archer improved his time by .19 seconds in the finals and took first place in the event.

Jefferies blew away the competition in the 200 with a time of 21.12 seconds, winning by .49 seconds over the second-place finisher. Kotey took fourth in the event with a time of 21.90 and Janish was seventh at 22.57 seconds.

Paxon Fleming ran a 54.85 second race in the 400 hurdles and placed third.Â

Robert Amaro finished in 1:57.42 seconds in the 800 and took ninth.
Osiel Ochoa was ninth in the 400 with a time of 51.87 seconds.

Damond Anderson set a new personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 14.01 meters.
Isabel Sayler also set a new lifetime best in the triple jump at 11.01 meters and placed fourth.Â

Hope Wagner hit the NAIA 'A' standard in the shot put with her throw of 13.55 meters.Â

The Chargers will now turn their attention to the NAIA Track and Field Championships on May 25-27 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
