Mosbrucker hits ‘A’ standard in javelin at Wayne State Invite

The Briar Cliff track and field opens their outdoor season this weekend at the Wayne State Invite in Wayne, Nebraska. Lexus Mosbrucker was the lone Charger competing today and shattered the school record in the javelin.

"With all the wind today and the weather not cooperating with us, Lexus wasn't quite sure how it was going to go today," said assistant Chandler Cork. "She popped off a throw of 40.57m to not only break the school record but also qualify for nationals!"

Mosbrucker's throw of 40.57m not only set a new program and personal best, but also met the NAIA 'A' Standard. The previous record was held by Kristi Chapin who had a throw of 37.26m in 2004.

She currently ranks first in the GPAC and eighth in the NAIA in the javelin.

"The wind was intimidating a little bit, but we got it done," said Mosbrucker. "This was the year I could not let Ben Jefferies go to nationals alone! I had to make sure to get qualified before he even got the chance."

The rest of the Charger track and field team will compete tomorrow in Wayne, Nebraska for day two of the Wayne State Invite.
