The Briar Cliff women's golf team opened competition at the Siouxland Invite Tuesday afternoon, putting together a solid opening round and remaining within striking distance of the leaderboard, heading into day two.

The Chargers were led by Lucy Carter, who carded an opening-round 80 (+8) and sits tied for 12th individually. Isabella McNaughton followed closely behind, firing an 81 (+9) to finish the day tied for 17th.

Kate Wahman added an 83 (+11) and sits tied for 26th, while Ellery Jansen finished with an 85 (+13). Emma Erickson rounded out the Charger lineup with a 91 (+19).

"A solid finish from the team today kept us within striking distance of the leaders. Tomorrow will be a fun day on the course!" head coach Ben Irlbeck said.

The Chargers will return to action tomorrow for the day of the Siouxland Invite on Wednesday, September 9.
