The Briar Cliff women's soccer team picked up a dominant 5-1 victory over Midland University Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers came out firing, scoring twice in the opening eight minutes.
Alexis Vasquez opened the scoring in the fifth minute off an assist from
Therese Molin, before Molin added a goal of her own less than four minutes later to give Briar Cliff a 2-0 lead.
Midland cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 33rd minute, but the Chargers responded with three unanswered goals in the second half.
Libby Fraser scored in the 52nd minute,
Sierra Brooks found
the net in the 69th minute off an assist from
Ondine Manceau, and Molin capped the scoring in the 86th minute with her second goal of the afternoon, assisted by
Angelina Saade.
Molin led the Chargers with two goals and an assist, while Vasquez and Brooks each added a goal. Fraser also scored, and Saade and Manceau each recorded an assist. Briar Cliff dominated offensively with 34 shots, including 13 on goal and 11 on corner kicks.
Caitlin Anderholm made one save over 74:35 before
Kinley Wood entered in goal for the final 15:25.
The Chargers return to action on Saturday October 3, hosting Concordia University. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
