Briar Cliff University head bowling coach Dylan Elsworth has announced the addition of Travis Jones and Samantha Burkhart as assistant coaches, along with David Ramirez-Granick as graduate assistant, ahead of the upcoming season.
Jones joins Briar Cliff after building an impressive coaching résumé at Le Mars Community High School. A three-time District Coach of the Year and Iowa State Coach of the Year, Jones has guided student-athletes to success while emphasizing leadership, discipline, and personal growth both on and off the lanes. He also holds an Iowa Coaching Authorization and is a USBC Registered Volunteer.
Burkhart brings a diverse background in collegiate athletics, admissions, and sports administration to the Chargers. She currently serves as a High School Admissions Counselor at Briar Cliff University, where she works closely with prospective students and high school counselors while coordinating campus visits. Prior to joining Briar Cliff, Burkhart served as the Ticket Sales and Account Manager for the Sioux City Explorers, overseeing ticket sales, sponsorships, and fan engagement initiatives. She earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sport management from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, where she was a member of the Eagles women's golf team. Burhart also servent as an Assistant Softball Coach at Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School.
Ramirez-Granick joins the Chargers after an accomplished competitive and coaching career in bowling. He competed internationally in Bogotá, Colombia, and bowled collegiately at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia. Ramirez-Granick is a USBC Level 1 and Bronze Certified coach and is currently working toward his Silver Certification. He previously served as a youth bowling coach, mentoring young athletes in both the technical and mental aspects of the sport. He earned his bachelor's degree in advertising and branding from SCAD this past May.
