Lauryn Mattox of the Briar Cliff softball team was named the Hilton Garden Inn Sioux City Riverfront Briar Cliff Athlete of the Week following an outstanding all-around performance at the plate, in the circle, and in the field this past weekend.
At the plate, Mattox hit .417, collecting five hits in 12 at-bats while driving in four RBIs. She also drew a walk, scored four runs, and added a sacrifice fly, consistently producing in key situations for the Chargers' offense.
Mattox was just as impactful in the circle, pitching seven innings and recording six strikeouts, helping anchor the Chargers defensively. She also showcased her versatility in the field, starting at first base, where she recorded 20 putouts without committing an error.
Her ability to contribute across all phases helped BCU go 2-2 this past weekend, recording wins over both Bismarck State and Dickinson State.
The Chargers return to action Friday, February 20, in Sioux Center, IA, taking on both Valley City State and Mayville State. Game times are set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
