The Briar Cliff softball team closed out the St. Ambrose Dome tournament splitting the day securing a win over Cleary before dropping their second game to St. Ambrose.
Game 1 vs Cleary– W, 1-0
Briar Cliff picked up a hard-fought 1–0 shutout win, over Cleary behind a strong pitching performance and timely hitting.
The game's lone run came in the third inning when
Sydney Ebel delivered an RBI double to left field, scoring
Leah Montes. That proved to be all the Chargers needed.
Aubrey White was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just two hits. She struck out three and faced only 24 batters in the win. Ebel,
Lauryn Mattox,
Kenadee Loew, and Montes each recorded hits for BCU.
Game 2 vs St. Ambrose– L, 10-1
The Cliff faced a tough St. Ambrose lineup in the finale, falling 10–1.
St. Ambrose jumped out early with four runs in the first inning and added five more in the third to build a commanding lead. Briar Cliff got on the board in the third when
Shelby Blankenship laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Montes.
Montie Richter, Blankenship, Montes, and Mattox each recorded hits for the Chargers, while Briar Cliff looked to generate momentum late but was unable to close the gap.

The Chargers return to action Friday February 13, taking on Valley City and Dakota State at the Dordt Dome in Sioux Center, IA. Game times are set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
