Brock Saya accounted for three touchdowns as the Chargers defeated the visiting St. Ambrose Fighting Bees 35-23 at Memorial Field Saturday evening. Saya finished the game going 21-for-25 passing with 307 yards through the air and two passing touchdowns while recording one rushing touchdown.

Shane LaDage. "It was a back-and-forth game early and they stole the momentum to start the 2nd half, but we didn't fold!
Brock Saya had one of the more impressive individual efforts I've seen from a QB, and the offense in general played a clean game. Our defense made timely stops and did a great job forcing take aways! A lot to improve on but what a great start to the season!"
Saya got things going on the second offensive drive of the contest, going four-for-four through the air and capping of the drive with 15-yard rushing touchdown.
Trailing 10-7 late in the first half, the Chargers engineered a 11-play 75-yard drive capped by a 11-yard touchdown from Saya to
Steven Whiting to regain the lead.
Coming out of the break, Saya and
Ivan Funderbunk for a 40-yard catch and run to give Briar Cliff a 21-17 lead.
Chase Thomas scored two rushing touchdowns in the second half. He finished with 57 yards rushing with a long of 14.
Jaden Self closed the door on a Fightin Bees comeback late in the fourth with an interception.
Max Rascon Jr. led the team in tackles with eight and recorded a sack and a forced fumble.
Kael Forsyth finished with seven tackles and a forced fumble.
Kymani Fleurme hauled in six catches for 77 yards while
Ezra Heiner recorded seven catches for 72 yards. Whiting finished with three catches for 67 yards.
The Chargers improve to 1-0 on the season and will host the third ranked Morningside Mustangs next Saturday at Memorial Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
