The Charger softball team split their doubleheader against the Waldorf Warriors Wednesday evening in Forest City, Iowa

Game one – W, 6-5
Â
Down by one heading into the bottom of the third, the Charger offense poured in five runs to take the lead. The Chargers loaded the bases with no outs following a single from
Jessica James. A two-run double from
Karina Cupples carded the Chargers first run.

Rylee Cain reached base on a fielder's choice and Cupples scored on the play. The Cliff capped off the scoring in the inning with a RBI double from
Kaela Persico to lead 5-1.

Heading into the final inning the Chargers and Warriors were tied at 5-5.
Kylie Wilhelms gave The Cliff the lead with a solo home run over the left field fence to give BCU a one-run lead.

Georgia Krohn came in relief in the final inning and recorded two strikeouts to give Briar Cliff the victory.

Game two – L, 7-11
Â
James led-off game two with a single to left field. She swiped second base and advanced to third on a passed ball. A infield single from Cain drove in James to give BCU a 1-0 lead. Waldorf carded four runs in the next half-inning to take a 4-1 lead.

The Cliff in the top of the second carded another run as
Sydney Ebel's RBI single to left field drove in Krohn.

The Chargers tallied another run in the top of the third, as
Kenadee Loew reached base on a fielder's choice to drive in Cain. In the top of the fourth, a RBI single from Cain tied the contest 4-4.

The Chargers found themselves down by six heading into the final innings of the contest. In the top of the sixth, Wilhelms recorded her second home run of the day, this time a three-run blast over the left field wall to cut the deficit to 7-10.

The Chargers fell in order in the top of the seventh as the Warriors took game two.

The Cliff move to 8-22 (2-12 GPAC) and will return to Hubbard Park to take on the Morningside Mustangs. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. with game two to follow shortly after.
