The Charger softball team dropped their doubleheader to the Dordt Defenders Wednesday in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Game one – L, 1-9

A one out single from
Jessica James got a runner aboard in the top of the first. James swiped second and
Kylie Wilhelms reached base on an error. James scored on the play to give BCU a 1-0 lead early.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the top of the third, the Charger looked to bounce back following an infield single from
Karina Cupples. Cupples reached second base after a groundout. The Defenders stranded Cupples at second base to maintain the lead. The Defenders would score seven runs in the final innings to take game one.

Game two – L, 6-14

Trailing by two heading into the top of the second.
Kaela Persico led off with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Persico moved to third following a groundout.
Georgia Krohn drew a walk to put runners at the corners.

Sydney Ebel's two RBI double to center field tied the game 2-2. Cupples drew a walk during her plate appearance and stole second. During the play, Ebel scored to give the Cliff a 3-2 lead.

The Defenders in the bottom of the third carded eight runs to take a seven-run lead.

In the top of the fourth,
Rylee Cain's two run single cut the lead to 6-10. Dordt would score four runs in the final two innings to take game two.

Kenadee Loew and Persico both recorded two hits in the contest.

The Chargers fall to 8-28 (2-18 GPAC) and will return to Hubbard Park for the season finale against the Red Raiders of Northwestern. Game one is slated for 1 p.m.
