The Chargers battled against #22 Midland Warriors in close contests Wednesday afternoon at Hubbard Park in Sioux City, Iowa.
Game one - L, 0-4
In the top of the fourth, the Warriors broke the scoring tying following two RBI singles. The Cliff in the bottom of the inning looked to respond, as
Kylie Wilhelms reached base on a single. A single from
Kaela Persico put runners at first and second with one out. The Warriors escaped the jam, forcing a ground out and a pop out to strand the base runners.

The Warriors tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. A lead off single from Bainter at the bottom of the inning followed by a
Jessica James single put runners at the corners. The Warriors escaped another jam, recording two strikeouts to end the inning.
In the top of the sixth, the Charger defense escaped a jam, as
Kaydence Kinder threw out a runner heading towards home plate to prevent the Warriors from adding to their lead. The Chargers fell in order in the bottom of the seventh as Midland took game on.

Wilhelms and
Skylar Bainter both recorded two hits in the contest. Bainter in the pitching circle pitched a complete game and recorded five strikeouts.

Game two – L, 3-6
Â
After three scoreless innings to begin game two, the Chargers in the bottom of the fourth put a runner on scoring position following a double from Wilhelms with one out. Wilhelms advanced to third following a ground out.
Kenadee Loew's RBI single carded the contest's first run.

The Warriors responded with three runs in the top of the fifth. Midland added one more run in the top of the sixth to take a 4-1 lead.

In the bottom of the inning
Rylee Cain led off the inning with a single. A single from Persico put runners on first and second with one out. A bases clearing double from Loew cut the Warrior lead to one heading into the final inning.

The Warriors added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-3 lead. The Cliff fell in order in the bottom of the inning to drop game two.

Loew finished the contest with two hits and recorded three RBIs.
The Chargers move to 8-26 (2-16 GPAC) and will return to action April 23 as they travel to Sioux Center, Iowa to take on the Defenders of Dordt. Game one is slated for 4 p.m. with game two to follow shortly after.
