The Charger softball team dropped their doubleheader to the Doane Tigers in Crete, Nebraska Friday afternoon.

Game one, L – 5-7
The Chargers struck first in the top of the first inning.
Jessica James led off the inning with a single.
Rylee Cain reached base on a fielder's choice with two outs.
Kaela Persico recorded a double to center field to put runners on second and third.
Georgia Krohn capitalized with runners in scoring position with a three-run blast over the left field wall to put BCU up 3-0 early.

The Tigers responded with three runs to tie the game.

Back-to-back singles from
Kenadee Loew and
Skylar Bainter put runners on first and second with no outs in the top of the second. With one out, James' two-RBI single down the right field line gave BCU a 5-3 lead.

Doane carded two runs in both the third and fourth inning to take a 7-5 lead.

James led the team with three hits and recorded two RBIs in the contest. Loew and Bainter both went two-for-three at the plate.

Game two, L 1-2
A defensive battle in game two, the Chargers looked to score early in the top of the first after James reached base on an error.
Karina Cupples laid down a bunt and reached base safely to put runners in first and second with no outs. The Tigers escaped the jam following a double-play and forcing a fly out.

The Tigers in the bottom of the third broke up the scoring tie to take a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth,
Kaydence Kinder led off with a single. Kinder moved to second following a sacrifice bunt from
Kylie Wilhelms. Persico tied the game with a RBI double to left field. The Chargers looked to take the lead as Persico moved to third on a passed ball. The Tigers stranded persico at third to keep the game tied at 1-1.

The Tigers in the bottom of the seventh scored on an RBI single to edge out the Chargers 2-1.

Bainter pitched a complete game and recorded three strikeouts and scattered six hits. James and Kinder both went two-for-four at the plate for the Chargers.
Sydney Ebel went one-for-two and drew a walk.

The Chargers fall to 5-13 (0-4 GPAC), and will host Mid America Nazarene on March 19. Game one is slated for 1 p.m.
