A fast start paired with a strong defense propelled the 5
th ranked Chargers over the Mustangs of Morningside 89-52 in the GPAC Quarterfinal match inside the Newman Flanagan Center Wednesday evening.

The Cliff led 49-20 at halftime, and held the Mustangs to a combined six-for-28 shooting from the field in the first half.

Briar Cliff began the game on an 11-0 run capped by a layup from
Adrianna Webster. The Mustangs first bucket didn't come until the six minute mark of the contest. Late in the quarter
Brooklyn Heineman and
Mallie McNair scored baskets to put the Chargers up 13.

The Chargers continued the strong start into the second quarter, shooting 50% from the floor and converted three of their five three-point attempts. McNair and
Rachel Langel paced the Chargers in the quarter with seven points apiece.
Kenna Mongan sank two threes in the quarter.

BCU knocked down 12 threes in the contest and shot 40% from the floor. They held the Mustangs to 27% shooting from the field and 16% from three-point land. The Chargers forced 28 turnovers in the contest and recorded 19 steals. Webster led the team in steals with seven followed by
Grace Flanagan's four.

McNair paced the Chargers with 19 points and shot 50% from the field and went three-for-six from long range.
Taylor Sodeman provided a huge boost off the bench, scoring a career high 18 points while shooting three-for-six from three and six-for-11 from the field.

Rachel Langel posted 11 points and grabbed four offensive rebounds. Benne finished with nine points, nine rebounds, and dished seven assists in CONTEST. Webster finished with nine points, seven rebounds, and recorded five assists.

The Chargers improved to 25-4 on the season, and will travel to Mitchell, South Dakota to take on the 2
nd seeded Dakota Wesleyan Tigers. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
