The Charger wrestling team returned to action Saturday, competing in the Younes Hospitality Open in Kearney, Nebraska.

"Today's tournament was a step up in competition and it showed with many of the teams being both NCAA D-I and D-2 programs, but we were able to notch several wins in those bouts. The guys are wrestling hard and progressing well," said Head Coach
Donaco Watts. "We just have to continue to obsess over the small details that are the difference between winning and losing a match."

Parker Leverknight finished second in the amateur 125-pound bracket, going 4-1 on the day. After receiving a bye, Leverknight earned two victories by pin and two by decision. He fell 12-24 in the first-place match to Gabe Sherrell of Pratt Community College.

Tyden Schultz in the amateur 133-pound bracket finished fourth after going 4-2 on the day. Schultz began the day with two major decision victories and a decision victory in the quarterfinal round.

Dariuz Black went 3-2 on the day, earning two wins via pin and one major decision victory.

The Chargers well now prepare for the first round of the GPAC Duals on November 25, as the Chargers will take on Concordia at 4 p.m. then take on Hastings at 7 p.m.
