Briar Cliff Adds Competitive Dance And Competitive Cheer

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Briar Cliff University announces the return of Competitive Dance and Competitive Cheer as varsity sports offered within Charger Athletics.  Both sports will start competition in the 2025-26 academic year.
 
"I am thrilled to announce the addition of Competitive Dance and Competitive Cheer as varsity sports to the BCU athletic department, " said Executive Director of Athletics Tim Jager. "This area of the country has exceptional talent, and we want to provide more opportunity for these athletes to get a top-notch education and have a great college experience while doing what they love and are passionate about."
 
The Charger dance and competitive cheer program last took the floor during the 2019-2020 Academic year.
 
Briar Cliff Athletics is a proud member of the NAIA and Great Plains Athletic Conference. The GPAC consists of institutions from Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
 
Charger Athletics will rejoin Northwestern (IA), Midland (NE), Hastings (NE), Dordt (IA), Concordia (NE), Doane (NE), Morningside (IA), and Mount Marty (SD) in competitive cheer.
 
The Cliff will compete against Midland (NE), Mount Marty (SD), Doane (NE), Morningside (IA), Dordt (IA), Concordia (NE), Hastings (NE), Northwestern (IA), and College of Saint Mary (NE) in competitive dance.
 
A national search for a Head Coach for the competitive dance and competitive cheer program will begin immediately.
