The Charger baseball team dropped their opening contest against the Warriors of Midland 12-10 Thursday evening at Plum Creek Park in Nebraska.
BCU found themselves down 2-0 after two innings of playing, giving up solo homers to open up the contest.
Drew Petersen in the bottom of the third tied the ball game with a two-run shot over right field.
Trailing 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth, a RBI-single from
Cade Marquardt cut the lead to two. In the top of the seventh, the Warriors used the long ball, recording two homeruns to push themselves to a 12-3 lead.
In the bottom of the seventh,
Diego Trujillo launched a three-run blast over right field to bring life back to the Charger offense. In the bottom of the eighth, Petersen again hit a two-run shot over right field to inch the Cliff closer.
Jared Sitzmann followed up with a two-run homer of his own to bring the Chargers within two.
The Warriors retired the side in the bottom of the ninth, as the Cliff dropped their opening game of the GPAC Tournament.
The Chargers will now face the loser of the Concordia/Mount Marty contest tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Plum Creek Park in Nebraska.
