Game Recap: Baseball |

CHARGERS EARN SERIES WIN OVER MUSTANGS

The Charger baseball team split their doubleheader against the Mustangs of Morningside, leading them to a 3-1 season victory in Sioux City, Iowa Saturday evening.

Game 1 – L, 11-10

The Charger offense was rolling in game one, scoring 11 runs including four in the top of the seventh.

A grand slam from the Mustangs in the bottom of the seventh cut the lead to one run with one out. Owen Lester came in to pitch and retired the first two batters before giving up a two-RBI single as the Mustangs stole game two.

In the loss, Cam Riemer went two-for-three at the plate with two RBIs and three runs. Walker Moore led the contest off with a solo shot to give BCU an early lead.

Game 2 – W, 5-1

The Cliff rode the hot bat of Justin Remar in game two, as he carded two RBI-singles in the contest. Jared Sitzmann drew and RBI-walk in the top of the sixth to put BCU up 3-0.

In the top of the eighth, Walker Moore hit his second homerun of the day, a solo shot over the left center field wall to put BCU up 4-0.

Drew Petersen's RBI-single added an insurance run in the top of the ninth.

Cade Nelson pitched a gem in game two, tossing eight innings and allowing just one run on eight hits while striking out eight.

The Cliff now sit at 17-14 (10-4 GPAC), and will return to Bishop Mueller field to take on the Tigers of Doane next Friday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
