The Charger men's basketball team bowed out of the GPAC conference tournament Wednesday evening, falling to Hastings 76-61.
After trading baskets early on, the Broncos took a 20-10 lead following a three from Tyrique McMurrin. The Chargers cut the lead to six after
Blake Sindelar and
Tyrus Eischeid buried triples. BCU trailed 39-26 heading into halftime following a layup from Sindelar.
In the second half, the Cliff opened with a 10-2 run to trail 43-39 following a three from
Jamison Helmers. The Broncos quickly built a double-digit lead following a three from Anthony Thompson.
Briar Cliff was once again in striking distance of Hastings, trailing 55-50 with little over nine minutes to play after Helmers converted on an and-one opportunity. The Chargers offense went cold late down the stretch and fell 76-61.
Quinn Vesey paced the Chargers in scoring with 15 points and grabbed three steals in the contest. Eischeid added 14 points and shot six-for-seven from the field. Helmers chipped in 13 points and shot 50% from the field.
The Chargers conclude the season in the GPAC quarterfinals with a 15-14 overall mark.
