The Charger football team fell to #10 Dordt 55-7 on Memorial Field on senior day. After a scoreless first quarter, the Defenders scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to grab momentum before half time.
The Chargers moved the ball efficiently on the opening drive, as
Luke Davies completed his first four passing attempts, including a 47-yard hookup to
Kymani Fleurme. The drive would stall out in Defender territory, and Jacob Schroder's field goal attempt fell short.
BCU forced a stop on the ensuing drive, but were unable to sustain their next offensive possession and were forced to punt it away.
The Defenders first score of the contest came on a long 13-play 78 yard drive that burned little over six minutes on the game clock.
Late in the fourth,
Judd Roberts checked in at quarter back and went six-for-seven for 75 yards and threw his first touchdown in the Blue and Gold, a 10-yard strike to Fleurme.
Fleurme hauled in nine catches for 122 yards in the contest. Inside backers
Brayden Pommier-Williams and
Brett Tinker both recorded seven tackles with six solos a piece.
Max Rascon Jr. recorded an interception in the contest.
The Chargers move to 2-7 (2-6 GPAC) and will travel to Mitchell, South Dakota to take on the Tiger of Dakota Wesleyan. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
