Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Chargers Move Past Lancers

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – It was a total team effort as the Briar Cliff University women's soccer team (1-3-1 GPAC, 1-8-2) beat Mount Marty (1-1 GPAC, 4-6-1) 9-0, Saturday afternoon at Faber Field.

Briar Cliff wasted no time in drawing first blood.  Freshman Eyrun Vala Hardardottir sent a pass to the front of the net.  Freshman Tamzin Hilton knocked the ball past the keeper.

That made it 1-0 just 1:19 into the contest.  At the 7:54 mark, Hilton scored again on a nice pass from Vala Hardardottir.  Just 33 seconds later, Hilton sent a pass from the left side that Vala Hardardottir put in the twine.  The Chargers never looked back from that point.

Briar Cliff had 30 shots with 16 on goal, four corner kicks and were called for 11 fouls.  Senior Emily Moran scored three goals, the first hat trick for the Chargers since Mady Soumare against the Lancers on Sept. 24, 2022.

Six players scored at least one goal for BCU.  Vala Hardardottir finished the game with three assists, tying the school record.  Defensively, the Chargers allowed MMU just three shots the entire game.

Briar Cliff hits the road, Wednesday, Oct. 9, taking on Northwestern (Iowa).  The game is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m.
