Shane LaDage has announced the six captains representing the Chargers for the 2023 season.

"Our team did an excellent job selecting six men to lead us during the 2023 season," said head coach
Shane LaDage. "Our program is full of great leaders, so the selection process was extremely competitive. I'm proud and excited for the six men selected and we can't wait to watch them lead their program this fall!"

The team captains on offense include wide receiver
Aaron Okoro, quarterback
Johnny Bauser, offensive lineman
Maximus Hawarden and wide receiver
Jaiden-Aavery Stowers. Stowers, who joined the Chargers last spring, was voted as a team captain by the team during his first fall camp at the Cliff. Okoro was named a team captain last season.

Okoro caught 39 passes for 465 yards and three touchdowns last season, while reaching the career 1,000-yard mark. Okoro hauled in a reception in all 11 games last season and had a season high two touchdown receptions against Dordt. Bauser, a sophomore dual-threat QB, completed nine passes last season for 123 yards while rushing 34 times for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Hawarden was a regular starter on the offensive line last season serving as the team's center, while Stowers is entering his first season at the Cliff.

The defensive captains for the Blue and Gold are linebacker
Brett Tinker and defensive lineman
Lakey Martin. Tinker was a 2022 captain and was named to the all-GPAC second team last season after totaling a conference high 104.0 tackles. Martin enters his junior season at the Cliff and posted 53.0 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and 3.0 sacks.
