The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced the 2023 GPAC Softball All-Conference teams with four Chargers named to the second team and four receiving an honorable mention.

Kennedy Andersen and
Maddi Duncan were named to the second team, while
Callie Billings,
Aubrey Chichurka,
Katelyn Kotlarz and
Ali Naumann were honorable mentions.

Lukes started in all 49 games for the Chargers and was the team's leader in home runs (6), triples (4), walks (20), runs scored (37), RBIs (37) and slugging percentage (.541 ). Lukes drove in a season-high five RBIs and had two home runs against Stephens on February 20. Lukes totaled 14 multi-hit games, recording three hits three times, had eight multi-RBI games and had a team best 19 game on-base streak. Thi is Lukes second-straight year being named to the all-GPAC second team.

Gifford appeared in 48 games, making 46 starts, and was the team leader in hits (61), at-bats (161), batting average (.379) and on-base percentage (.419). Gifford totaled 33 runs scored, 11 RBIs, six doubles and tied for a team high with 17 stolen bases. Gifford had a team high 22 multi-hit games, with four games with three hits, had a season-best 11 game hit streak and an 18 game on-base streak. Gifford earned second team honors in her first season at the Cliff.

Andersen played in 47 games with 44 starts behind the plate for the Chargers. She posted the fifth best batting average for BC at .294 with 37 hits, two doubles, one home run and 17 RBIs. She had eight multi-hit games, tallying three hits three times, and had a nine-game on-base streak. Andersen threw out 10 baserunners attempting to steal and boasted a .992 fielding percentage. This is Andersen's third all-GPAC honor after being named an honorable mention the last two seasons.

Duncan made 30 appearances with 25 starts in the pitcher's circle for the Cliff. The Charger ace posted a 19-7 overall record on the season with a 1.75 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP. Duncan tossed 20 complete games and eight shutouts with 180.0 innings pitched. She set a new Charger record for single-season strikeouts with 227 K's in her freshman campaign. She tossed a season-high 12 innings against Mount Marty in the GPAC Postseason Tournament, had a season-best 15 strikeouts against Kansas Wesleyan and threw a no-hitter against Peru State. Duncan tallied double-digit strikeouts in eight games, including six of her last seven starts to end the year.

Billings joins Lukes as the only Chargers to start in all 49 contests. Billings posted a .318 batting average with 47 hits, three doubles and 11 RBIs. She drew 15 walks and had a .382 on-base percentage. Billings was a perfect 16-for-16 on stolen base attempts. She had 10 multi-hit games, with a team high five three-hit games, and had a nine game on-base streak. This is Billings second all-GPAC honor after being named an honorable mention in her sophomore season.

Chichurka played and started in 42 games for the Chargers at third base. She had a team high 13 doubles to go with a .338 batting average with 43 hits. Chichurka drove in 21 RBIs, scored 14 runs, had one home run, one triple and a .471 slugging percentage. She posted a .991 fielding percentage and helped turn three double plays. Chichurka totaled 12 multi-hit games with three, three-hit games. She had a season-best nine game hitting streak and a 13 game on-base streak. Chichurka drove in two or more runs in three games, including a four-RBI performance against Bethel on February 12. Chichurka earned her second all-GPAC nod after being an honorable mention her freshman season.

Kotlarz made 22 starts in 26 appearances for the Chargers in the pitcher's circle. She recorded a 12-8 overall record with a 2.33 ERA. She threw 11 complete games, four shutouts and two no-hitters. She struck out 177 batters in 126.0 innings of work and held opponents to a .150 batting average. Kotlarz threw a no-hitter against William Woods on February 18 with 13 strikeouts and had an eight-inning no-hitter against Mount Marty on March 25 with 12 K's. She tallied double-digit strikeouts in seven games with a season high 14 against Sterling.

Naumann appeared in 49 games with 47 starts in the outfield for the Cliff. She had a .248 batting average on 38 hits, five doubles and a triple. Naumann was second on the team with 26 RBIs and tied Gifford for a team high 17 stolen bases. Naumann had two doubles in a game against Hastings on April 29. She recorded 10 multi-hit games, tallying three hits twice, had a 10-game hitting streak and seven games driving in two or more runs.

The Hauff Mid-America Sports Player of the Year was Gwen Mikkelsen from Northwestern and the Coach of the Year was the Red Raiders' Shane Bouman. The Pitcher of the Year was Abby Draemer from Dordt.

The Chargers won a program best 33 games this season while going 14-8 in the GPAC. As a team, the Chargers set a program best with 86 stolen bases, hit by pitches with 31, shutouts with 13, strikeouts with 417 and fielding percentage at .968.
