The Briar Cliff football team fell to Mount Marty Saturday on Homecoming 19-41 on Memorial Field. The Chargers

"Disappointed in our execution in every facet of the game today," said head coach
Shane LaDage. "We got outplayed and out coached, so hats off to Mount Marty. We committed too many penalties in critical situations that proved costly in the second half. I have to lead our team better and I look forward to the challenge alongside our men."

The Chargers struck first with a 14-play, 61-yard drive that ended in a
Jonathan Branner field goal. BC drove inside the Lancer 10-yard line but settled for a field goal after a pair of incompletions and a short yardage rush. The Lancers tied the game at 3-3 after an eight-minute drive resulted in a field goal.

Trailing 3-10, the Chargers began the final drive of the first half with six straight rushes and 29 yards from
Asante Anglin. The Chargers ran seven plays from inside the five-yard line but were unable to cross the goal line. Branner put his second field goal attempt through the uprights to end the half trailing 6-10.

Mount Marty took control in the second half by scoring 24 unanswered points.
Luke Davies found
Tim Brown for an 11-yard touchdown strike in the fourth quarter and would later connect with Anglin for a 28-yard TD. The Chargers failed to convert a pair of onside kicks as the Lancers closed out the win.

Davies completed 16-of-34 for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Anglin rushed for a season high 82 yards with a 4.3 yards per carry average.
Kobe Johnson caught eight passes for 63 yards, while
Spencer George added four receptions and 63 yards. Â

Carlos Alvarez had a team high 15 tackles (seven solo) with one tackle for a loss.
MJ Montgomery had the team's only sack. As a team, the Chargers had six tackles for a loss. Branner converted both of his field goal attempts and is 7-for-7 on the year.

The Chargers look to bounce back on the road Saturday against Hastings. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Hastings, Nebraska.
